Pixel laser treatment at Maryam Zamani
Tested by Fiona Golfar
An appointment with Maryam is like visiting an old friend who has your best interests at heart (and it doesn’t hurt that she’s a dead ringer for Angelina Jolie, either). She suggested I had IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to target pigmentation, stimulate collagen production and treat my rosacea, and she also recommended Fractional Ablative Laser.
It’s not for the faint-hearted. Ablative means taking the skin off – in my case, about 20 per cent of the skin was removed in one sitting. The laser creates a micro-column of injury, stimulating the production of new skin cells. A word of warning: you will look like Gwyneth Paltrow in Shallow Hal for five days, and your face will swell, peel and scab. Don’t make any plans that involve being seen in public and stock up on soothing moisturiser – I clung to Avene’s Soothing Mask.
Although it was a shock to the system, the end result is remarkable. My skin is tighter, fresher and dewier then after any other treatment I’ve had. If it’s a matter of no pain, no gain, I’ll take it.Posted on Categories: press
