Thread Trends: Silhouette Soft
Some people ca
ll this the stitchless facelift, a moderately invasive treatment with long standing benefits to help those not quite ready for a facelift. Here is the skinny on doing thread lifts.
What is a Silhouette Soft Lift?
This is a relatively new, minimally invasive treatment suitable for all skin types addressing the facial ageing concerns: sagging skin, lines and wrinkles. This procedure uses bio-absorbable threads placed under the skin to lift and restore facial contours. These threads also stimulate the skin’s own collagen production process, resulting in a firmer and smoother appearance in the area treated over time.
What is the thread made of?
Threads are bidirectional absorbable thread cones made of polylactic acid, a substance we make sutures from. Polylactic acid has been used for many years in various medical applications.
How are they used?
There are no incisions, however there are entry points where the threads are inserted through and passed under the skin and secured in place by the bio-directional cones. It takes between 30-60 minutes per area treated. The lifting effect that the procedure provides will soften over time and it will stimulate collagen for a more prolonged smoothing and firming effect.
Which areas can be treated?
Silhouette soft threads can be used along the:
- lower jaw
- cheeks and cheekbones
Is this treatment painful?
This is very dependent on the individual. The treatment is performed using a local anaesthetic, which is applied to certain points in the area to be treated so there is minimal pain or discomfort during insertion of the suture. Some patients may find the procedure a little uncomfortable and any pain after the treatment can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers.
How long are the benefits seen for?
The visible benefits of silhouette soft threads last from 6-18 months. It can compliment other cosmetic treatments such as hyaluronic acid injections, botulinum toxin and other laser and light treatment modalities.
What to do after Silhouette Soft Treatment?
After Silhouette Soft treatment, the treated area will appear slightly elevated and will show more volume. There may be temporary dimples in the areas that have been lifted. As with any aesthetic treatment, slight swelling, redness or bruising can occur – but this should disappear within a few days. While you can resume most activities, it is advisable to avoid exercise and facial massages. It is also preferable to sleep on your back.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Silhouette soft threads can be combined with hyaluronic acid fillers, botulinum toxin, lasers, radiofrequency, ultrasound and other treatment modalities before and after threads have been placed.
Do Silhouette Soft threads have to be removed again?
No, silhouette soft threads are slowly absorbed by the body, and also helps to stimulate collagen production.
