BOTOX

WHAT IS BOTOX?

Botox is an anti-wrinkle treatment that helps to restore a freshness to the face by minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These wrinkles are mainly caused by muscle contractions and repetitive facial movements, such as squinting or smiling. With age skin loses its ability to spring back into place, resulting in these dynamic lines becoming apparent even when those muscles are not used. Botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin, is injected into the muscle and works to temporarily paralyze the muscle movement which can instantly eradicate or soften lines.

We offer three different Botulinum Toxin A treatments – Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport and Azzalure, all of which use similar neurotoxins to temporarily paralyse the small muscles of targeted areas of the face in order to give your skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

The super fine injections can be administered with little discomfort during one 20-minute appointment and will target specific problems, such as crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, furors in between the brows, bunny lines, smokers’ lines, neck lines and neck bands. There is no need for local anaesthesia. There is minimal downtime; some bruising may occur post-treatment. Effects are generally noticeable between two and eight days after treatment and will typically last three to five months. It’s important to note that Botox will not radically change your facial appearance and you may be able to frown or look surprised but with diminished or no skin creasing and wrinkling.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Botox is a very effective option to soften fine lines and wrinkles without resorting to more invasive invasive. Botox can also be used in conjunction with other facial aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers or laser treatment to optimize results. Not just reserved for lines and wrinkles, Botox has many uses and can also help to reduce gummy smiles, minimize teeth grinding, aid in treatment of headaches and treat excessive sweating (armpits, hairline, hands, feet, groin and menopausal sweats).

CONDITIONS BOTOX CAN TREAT

  • Wrinkles: Forehead, Glabella, Crows Feet

Repetitive facial movements and expressions, such as squinting or smiling can cause the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin and as skin ages, it loses its ability to spring back into place resulting in these grooves becoming apparent even when not using the muscle.

What to expect: Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles causing lines and wrinkles via a series of super-fine injections. The injections can be administered during one 20-minute appointment and have minimal downtime, although some bruising may sometimes occur. Expect effects to last between three to five months.

Also good for: Dramatically smoothing frown lines on the forehead, furrows in between the eyebrows and crow’s feet around the eyes. Botox can also be used to treat neck bands and diminish jowling, reduce gummy smiles, as a treatment for teeth grinding and to slim down the face by injecting into the Masseter muscle. Botox can also help with treating headaches and excessive sweating (armpits, hairline, hands, feet, groin and menopausal sweats)

Alternative treatments: Fillers, Lasers, Peel, Ultherapy and Radiofrequency.

  • Jowling

  • Neck Bands

It can be one of the biggest age giveaways, horizontal or vertical neck lines and loose skin, can give the effect of a ‘turkey neck’ particularly prominent when teeth are clenched.

What to expect: Get the uplift without resorting to invasive surgery by using a high intensity focused ultrasound to tighten loose, wrinkled and sun damaged skin. This energy triggers a natural reaction in the skin to tighten and kick start new collagen leaving a smoother, younger looking neck. There is no downtime to this treatment and for optimal results 1-2 treatments are recommended.

Also good for: Jowling, Eyebrow Lift, Chest tightening and Non-surgical facial rejuvenation.

    Alternative treatments: PRP and Radiofrequency

  • Gummy Smile

Gummy smiles are when there is an excess of the upper gums apparent when smiling. The upper lip can elevate too far above the upper teeth causing an over exposure of the gum margin. Gummy smiles are caused by hyperactive elevating muscles the upper lip, a thin upper lip or a combination of the two.

What to expect: Botox works to temporarily paralyze the muscles responsible for movement, retracting and exposing significant gum tissue when smiling. The procedure takes around 15 minutes to complete with results gradually appearing two weeks after treatment. Injection related side effects such as redness, swelling and bruising may occur post-treatment but will subside in a couple of days.

Also good for: Fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Excessive Sweating (Hyperhydrosis)

A common and uncomfortable condition where a patient sweats more that is needed by the body to regulate temperature – the hands, the feet and the groin can also be affected.

What to expect: The procedure takes around 20 minutes to complete with results gradually appearing two weeks after treatment and last 3-6 months. Injection related side effects are minimal and temporary such as redness, swelling and bruising may occur post-treatment but will subside in a couple of days.

Also good for: Fines lines and wrinkles, and facial rejuvenation

  • Square Jaw

A square jaw can be genetic or the result of clenching and grinding teeth which overdevelops the Masseter muscle.

What to expect: A square jaw can look overtly prominent and in some cases too masculine but the shape can easily be softened and made to be more oval through injectables for a softer profile. For men, the jaw can also be sharpened for a more distinctive shape. Discomfort is minimal, think a very mild stinging sensation and there may also be mild bruising and swelling immediately after the treatment that will subside in a couple of days.

Also good for: Lines and wrinkles.

  • Eyebrow Lift

Gravity, over time, can exacerbate the sagging of the soft tissues of the forehead, lowering the brow position which can create a tired, sad or grumpy appearance.

What to expect: The position and shape of the eyebrows are critical in defining the face. Careful use of Botox can adjust this balance to lift and enhance eyebrow shape and position. This treatment may also be supplemented with dermal filler to help support the eyebrow. The injections can be administered during one 20-minute appointment and have minimal downtime, although some bruising may sometimes occur. Expect effects to last between three to five months for Botox and longer with fillers.

Also good for: Restoring facial volume, softening lines and wrinkles.

    Alternative treatments: Hyaluronic Acid Ultherapy.
