Dr. Maryam Zamani’s Eye Bootcamp

Thank you…

Firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who tuned into Thursday’s evenings Eye Bootcamp with Dr Maryam Zamani. Due to popular demand, we are working to make these regular events. Hurrah!

Why an Eye Bootcamp?

We thought an ‘Eye Bootcamp’ would be a great place to start due to Dr Zamani’s primary role as an oculoplastic surgeon, which involves cosmetic and reconstructive surgery around the eyes and eyebrows.

“The eye area is one of the first that we see ageing, but I believe that we shouldn’t just treat the problems and issues and hand but that we need to help prevent them. That fusion is why my practice is not just surgical but nonsurgical as well. With various tweakments we can delay the appearance of the ageing process.”

What was the inspiration behind MZ Skin?

Based on Zamani’s in-clinic experiences, and love for personal care, she created MZ Skin about 4 years ago and the ethos behind it is really to reveal, enhance and protect the skin.

“It is a clean approach, medically backed with scientifically supported formulations. They are made by me, for women. MZ Skin fuses the science with the sensory experience and I hope it makes the women who use it feel beautiful while doing something good for their skin.”

It’s made to be easy to use without too many steps. Perfect for the modern, educated woman who wants powerful actives but does not want to compromise on the beauty aspect.

The latest addition to the MZ Skin product line are our now bestselling Eye Ampoules. The intensive 5-day regimen is formulated to really help increase circulation and skin density, bolster collagen production and hydrate. The skin around the eye area does not have sebaceous glands and is microns thin hence why it is so prone to early signs of ageing including dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles. This powerhouse regimen is formulated to combat all of those by also addressing the breakdown of collagen, which happens from as soon as our early 20s.

What else did I miss out on from the Eye Bootcamp?

Dr Zamani demystified the difference between puffiness and an eye fat prolapse.

Also, have you ever wondered if you really need to address puffiness differently from dehydration?

Aren’t all eye creams equal, I hear you ask?

Are you curious for the best way to use a Gua Sha? Watch a demonstration of a lymphatic drainage with our new Gua Sha stone which can also relax neck muscles.

Did you know blinking helps reduce eye puffiness?

What causes dark circles under my eyes?

Darkness under the eyes is a very interesting aspect. A lot of the times it can be caused by lifestyle and environment triggers such as pollen that cause the eye vessels to dilate and interlock. In this case, instead of the vessel to appear red, it just looks dark. So, if you can detoxify, drain and soothe that area you will get an improvement in the dark circles. If you can also thicken the skin in that area, you won’t see imperfections to easily.

Remember though, the eye area has a concentric muscle so it is really important not to forget the upper eyelid too when applying eye creams.

Is my anatomical tear trough actually my eye puffiness?

If you have puffiness around the eye, the last thing you want to do is really hydrate it, as that can just exacerbate the issue. What you really want to do is the exact opposite.

Simultaneously, if you do have a prominent outline around the trough, there are injectables available to try and lift that.

Puffiness above the eye caused by fat herniation really need a long-term solution such as surgical correction. Depuff & Define will help drain any excess toxins and fluids that gather there.

Sleep is important but if we haven’t had 7-9 hours sleep you can wake up with puffiness and in this case, a lymphatic drainage with a tool like Gua Sha can certainly help.
