What is Profhilo?

Profhilo Treatment is a highly purified injectable hyaluronic acid skin booster.  With special patented NAHYCO® technology, Profhilo functions to hydrate the skin from inside, like an internal moisturiser, and stimulates the production of elastin and collagen.  Together this helps improve skin tone and skin laxity and results in glowing, radiant, smooth skin.

What are the main differences between Profhilo and Fillers?

There is actually just one similarity between the two; they are actually very different anti-ageing treatments. Both fillers and Profhilo involve Hyaluronic Acid being injected to undo signs of ageing, this is where the similarities stop.

The type of Hyaluronic Acid used in dermal filler injections is thicker and more viscous than the runny consistency of Profhilo injections. And the Hyaluronic Acid that you’ll find in fillers is combined with other ingredients, unlike the highly concentrated and purified Hyaluronic Acid used for Profhilo. So, whilst hyaluronic acid is the star of the show in both injectables, the Hyaluronic Acid used for each is very different.

Secondly, with fillers, only one area is focused on at a time. But, Profhilo treatment isn’t restricted to just one place. What Profhilo actually does is plump, refresh and tighten the whole face. This is because once the Profhilo injections have delivered their 10 shots of hydration, the Hyaluronic Acid starts to disperse underneath the skin, spreading its moisturising magic across the whole face.

Whilst dermal fillers are used for altering the shape of facial features, replacing lost volume due to ageing and contouring, Profhilo doesn’t have any role in volumising or restructuring the face.

How does Profhilo work?

Think of Profhilo like taking a really hydrating moisturiser and, instead of applying it on top of your skin, injecting it into your skin for rejuvenation.

Profhilo attracts water into the deeper layers of the skin while stimulating four different kinds of collagen and elastin production.  Together there can be a tightening and lifting effect while giving skin that luminous glow.

Who is Profhilo good for?

Profhilo nourishes the skin and delivers deep hydration for all skin types on the face, neck, decolletage and body.  I recommend Profhilo for those individuals complaining of tired, lacklustre or dull skin. Profhilo can be used to help treat crepe-y skin and fine lines by stimulating collagen and elastin production as opposed to filling an area.

Often Profhilo can be used in conjunction with other treatments such as PRP, Laser & Light Treatments, and Microneedling.

What to expect during and after a Profhilo Treatment?

Profhilo is a two-part treatment, done in two sessions 4-6 weeks apart.  In the face, Profhilo is injected beneath the skin surface into five pre-determined points on each side of the face. Profhilo can also be used on the neck, decolletage and body in a similar fashion.

There is minimal downtime after Profhilo injections.  Immediately following treatment, the areas will be massaged.  There may be pinpoint bruising, swelling and mild tenderness to treated areas for 24-72 hours.  As with all injectable treatments, it is recommended to avoid exercise, steam and sauna for 24 hours after treatment.

How quickly are results seen and how long will Profhilo last?

Improved skin hydration can be seen soon after the first session with Profhilo and full results with improvement in skin texture and laxity are seen after the second session.

To maintain results, two repeat sessions are recommended every six to nine months.
