Botox is an anti-wrinkle treatment that helps to restore a freshness to the face by minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These wrinkles are mainly caused by muscle contractions and repetitive facial movements, such as squinting or smiling. With age skin loses its ability to spring back into place, resulting in these dynamic lines becoming apparent even when those muscles are not used. Botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin, is injected into the muscle and works to temporarily paralyze the muscle movement which can instantly eradicate or soften lines.
We offer three different Botulinum Toxin A treatments – Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport and Azzalure, all of which use similar neurotoxins to temporarily paralyse the small muscles of targeted areas of the face in order to give your skin a smoother, more youthful appearance.
The super fine injections can be administered with little discomfort during one 20-minute appointment and will target specific problems, such as crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, furors in between the brows, bunny lines, smokers’ lines, neck lines and neck bands. There is no need for local anaesthesia. There is minimal downtime; some bruising may occur post-treatment. Effects are generally noticeable between two and eight days after treatment and will typically last three to five months. It’s important to note that Botox will not radically change your facial appearance and you may be able to frown or look surprised but with diminished or no skin creasing and wrinkling.
Botox is a very effective option to soften fine lines and wrinkles without resorting to more invasive. Botox can also be used in conjunction with other facial aesthetic procedures such as dermal fillers or laser treatment to optimize results. Not just reserved for lines and wrinkles, Botox has many uses and can also help to reduce gummy smiles, minimize teeth grinding, aid in treatment of headaches and treat excessive sweating (armpits, hairline, hands, feet, groin and menopausal sweats).
Repetitive facial movements and expressions, such as squinting or smiling can cause the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Each time you use a facial muscle, a groove forms beneath the surface of the skin and as skin ages, it loses its ability to spring back into place resulting in these grooves becoming apparent even when not using the muscle.
