Rosacea

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that is typically seen between the ages of 30-50.  Rosacea is more common in women and fair skin tones often starting with a tendency to flush or blush and can cause embarrassment, lower self-esteem.  Symptoms can be exacerbated by conditions including UV exposure, changes in temperature, exercise, certain foods, alcohol and stress.  There are four classifications of rosacea:

  1. Erythematotelangiectatic (redness, flushing, visible blood vessels)
  2. Papulopustular (redness, swelling and acne-like spots)
  3. Phymatous (thickened, bumpy skin)
  4. Ocular rosacea (red and irritated eyes and eyelids)
