ProFractional Laser
ProFractional laser is an ablative Erbium laser, operating on the principle of thermocoagulation to improve the overall appearance of skin by treating many pinpoint areas of the skin simultaneously. ProFractional Laser treats only a fraction of the skin and leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes rapid healing.
What to expect?
ProFractional Laser can be customized to lighter treatments for skin rejuvenation or a deeper treatments for scarring. Numbing cream is applied 45 minutes prior to treatment. The ProFractional laser removes small columns of skin at a specific depth in a relatively quick treatment. Pinpoint bleeding may occur and subsides within a few minutes to hours. Immediately after treatment, skin will feel hot, red and swollen. There will be a sunburn sensation that resolves over 1-2 hours. Minor sloughing, itchiness and redness will occur over the following 2-3 days depending on the depth of the area treated. Skin flaking can last 2-7 days depending on the depth and concentration of treatment done. Overall healing from ProFractional Lasers can take 5-10 days with continual improvement for up to 6 months after first treatment. Typically patients return for annual treatments to maintain results from ProFractional Laser.
What are the benefits?
Profractional laser can be used to target minimal skin imperfections such as pores, pigmentation and skin tone but is commonly used to target deeper skin issues such as scarring and wrinkles on the face and body. ProFractional laser can also treat delicate skin of the neck, chest, and hands.
